Moab Canyoneering second edition by Derek Wolfe
Moab Canyoneering second edition by Derek Wolfe
A nice guidebook to the canyons around Moab. Good introductory material. Derek worked with management or Arches to get the best, least impactful routes into each canyon worked out. Bouncy, well-written, pro-FUSELY illustrated. In other words, good stuff.

The Grand Canyon is a huge and amazing place, and Todd has built a huge and amazing book that describes the backcountry as never before. Technical stuff - for sure. Non-technical stuff - a TON of that stuff too. With amazing beautiful photographs. Lots of em.
It is hard to say enough about how beautiful this book is. Ten Stars! So good.
New revised printing 2024 is split into two volumes for easy sharing; includes numerous updates and more pictures.
The SandTrap, invented by Steve Woodford of Springdale Utah, is an interesting device for creating a retrievable anchor any time you have sand available.
Fill it with sand, then rap off it. Pull the retrieval line to spill the sand and retrieve the Trap, leaving nothing behind other than displaced sand. Ingenious! The only problem that I see with it is that I didn't invent it!!!
9/16/2026: our rather dull Quicksand color is replaced with the new Quicksand color which is richer, more interesting, and kinda coppery. But we still call it Quicksand. Maybe Quicksand with some algae growing in it.
(09-16-2026 — we have one Red/Qs with a few small stains on the Quicksand portion. 10% discount. Only one available)
