Sundance 2026 - D3 - Jan 25 - movie 1

This movie is too too powerful to swirl in with other movies. It opens with Doctor Mark and a movie editor reviewing some material. which goes something like this (ie, this is a paraphrase):

Editor: well, maybe we can use this, but we'll have to blur this as it is too graphic...

Mark: no no no.  You can't do that. These are dead children, maimed children

Editor: for the sake of their dignity, we can't...

Mark: these children are dead. They have no dignity. Israel took away their dignity.

Editor:  yes, but...

Mark: you are suggesting journalistic treason, turning away from the truth. That is the whole problem. The turning away...

The temptation is vast.  The truth might set you free, but right away it will make you nauseous.

AMERICAN DOCTOR

Gaza.  It is the story of Gaza, and us, the Mighty USA, complicit in the ongoing genocide of the Palistinian people. Don't. Don't turn away.  We (Americans) have done so much turning away, it is disgusting.

Told through the eyes of three surgeons who have been going to Gaza to do what they can, to do trauma surgery in one of the only hospitals still standing in Gaza, one of the few not targeted by the IDF... oops, I mean one of the few not completely destroyed by the IDF, though we see a triple-tap attack at the end of the film. (spoiler alert).

Do you have questions about Gaza?  There are answers here. From people on the ground, footage, including of rows of dead children targeted by Israeli snipers, bullets through the head. NOT collateral damage. NOT accidents. It is all nauseating.

And it makes me feel so small, so powerless. The scale of this injustice is so huge. These doctors are heros. So heroic. And this is done in our name. Our tax dollars supporting the criminal Israeli government.  Not a 'little', but a LOT!

Essential viewing. Not a good date movie.
