Chris Avery and son Tanner came up from Tucson for a casual canyoneering weekend in Zion. Why not do a classic! Zion’s Pine Creek beckoned. Lin Alder, formerly of Springdale, joined us for a jaunt in the most classic of Zion canyons for a total photo op trip.
First, we found some bolts well before the first rappel… very odd. Turns out they are left over from SAR operations, and we should leave them be. A little bit of scratched graffiti too, which we rubbed off with sand. Jeech.
At the Cathedral rappel, we decided to clean the little sling up above, perhaps an anchor for a high-flow pine creek. Then Tanner and I rapped down side by side for pictures. Not the best pics, not a lot of light equals blurry pics for sure.
Did the two-rap thing at the last rappel too.
Then we had dinner. Drank beer. Went home.
