Technical Tips

Canyoneering 101? Not exactly, but I thought it worthwhile to put together some technical tips, to encourage exploration, innovation and discussion.

It cannot be emphasized enough that techniques must be tried first in a safe environment with backup and safeties, before being brought to the field. There is no way to obtain understanding of a technical skill like trying it, and experimentation is a lot more appropriate when your life is not on the line.

Technical canyoneering is about judgement. Judgement is developed through experience, preferably experience that does not kill or maim you or your friends. Go canyoneering with a variety of people and your horizons will expand.
